March 10, I arrived in Atlanta, GA. rather late in the evening and had a wonderful meal at my favorite eatery R. Thomas (I love their gourmet Curry Chicken, Salmon, Shrimp over Pasta) Yummmm.
March 11-19 I will be in Washington DC. and various cities in Virginia.
I arrived in DC. late, late on the 11th and took the train, believe me I was freaking out thinking I may end up in ten buck two, but some how with God's help I made it to my hotel without incident in VA. to say the least I was extremely tired.
The 12th I did lots of paper work, research and phone calls.
March 13th was a day that the power of God really showed itself. I was on the phone for about an hour with the U S Trademarks and Patents Office about items I have designed, they told me there was absolutely no need to come in, only 5% do. I felt I got very good throughal assistance.
After that I went to the US Copyrights/Library of Congress Office, Omg, Omg, I wanted to copyright all of my 20 book series, my designs, art, graphics, all of my poems, qoutes in it, music, every single line everything. An expert helped me and it was all done in 15 minutes flat! I then found out and saw where my story-interview was stored at in the US Library of Congress-Thomas Jefferson Building and found out it was in the American Folklore Center portion. After that I saw the U S Capital.
My Prayer:Thank You God for an amazing trip to Washington DC so far by copyrighting my book series and seeing my interview in the LOC left me in "AWE" of you. Now I can move forward with book sales. You are so awesome and wonderful God and there is NO one like you, NO where, Amen
March 14 was another really amazing, I mean very amazing day I went on a little 2.5 hour lunch cruise to see some of the city. Afterwards I went to our new office for a couple of hours to work on Pennsylvania Ave. (The same street as the White House and Capital Hill) Alot of awesomeness will happen over the weekend and early next week on this trip so stay tuned there are some surprises.....
March 15 was a day of great adventure, I moved from my hotel in Alexandria, VA. of 4 nights to Washington DC. I normally stay in WA when I come up for business but due to 2 major conventions and a marathon, every hotel in Washington downtown and in the Capital area was booked. I actually am paying less to stay downtown in a four star hotel that is normally $300-400 for $60 through Priceline (I love Priceline), than what I was paying in VA. insane right? I know!!!!! But to God be the glory.... I am staying almost right across from the Verizon Center were the NBA games are played, infact a game was played there last night. I went to this Mexican Eatery for lunch/dinner that sits about 100 folks, omg it was probally the prettiest restuarant I have every seen and the food was unbelievable WOW....after getting into my new hotel I got ready to go to "The Kennedy Center" I had heard about a play there on Domestic Violence (they were making their World Premiere in DC.) from Iceland and instead of getting tickets directly from the Center I got them from the play itself they were only $15 oppose to $50, that was such a blessing in getting a bargain on the ticket. I found out after getting to the hotel "The Kennedy Center" was on the same street as well as one of the 19 Smithsonians. I got ready and arrived at "The Kennedy Center" in awe, you saw tons of women in furs, it was spectacular to see I am telling you! The play was called "Harmsaga" at the end she ended of dead, he could not let her go. On my way back to the hotel my driver passed by the new African American Smithsonian that is being built that my work will be housed in. It was breath-taking and a site to behold.
March 16 I am headed over to see 4 of the Smithsonians and the Smithsonian Castle(including the one that has all the first ladies of the United States Presidents Inauguration Balls gowns in it) I had a very good time going to a few of the Smithsonian Institutes and Museums. I also had a very lovely dinner afterwards.
March 17 Washington DC. got about 6-8 inches of snow over night, almost everything was shut down. Ok. I thought only Nashville did this when we get just snow flakes (Oh the little city that almost could......snow) At the office taking care of business, alot of paperwork, lunch at CHOPT and also working on plans for my trip to NYC in a day or so. I had such a lovely dinner the hotel I was in gives the guests all kinds of goodies. I dined well, for alot less.
March 18 I had another very good day, I was able to copyright alot of my songs as a beautiful collection at "The Library of Congress" I was so very happy about that. Now I can sing/record freely and not be afraid my songs God gave me can be stolen from me. I also had my last dinner there at Elephant and Castle. In the process of leaving DC, I went through China Town, how spectacular oh my goodness, I need to spend a little more time there when I visit in April. I arrived in NYC around 5 a.m. this morning so you know I am yawning but very excited too about what these next few days hold. Got to run, headed to my hotel......
March 19-23 I was in New York City (Times Square and Manhattan) My time in NYC was amazing, breathtaking and victorious. Day 1. I enjoyed myself by walking almost everywhere, taking the train a little bit and the bus some. I promised myself that I would not use the taxi only if I just had too. On my last visit I used the taxi in NYC 15 times. I wanted to really learn the city a little bit more than I did the last time and the last time. I ended up staying in West Manhattan for two nights. I got out and walked to see what was around me. I ate at this yummy "Thai" eatery oh I love red and green curry chicken and rice. The food was great. I ran into a grocery store that had whole wheat carmel rice cakes, fruits etc. I ran into a thrift store that helps victims of AIDS and the Homeless, it touched my heart alot I talked briefly to the director, grabbed their pamplet. I then saw another thrift store and had to see what they had going on. I went in and it was a hot mess clothes all over the floor and I thought "What kind of business is this?" And left real fast. I found that so many folks had their own little bitty business going a ton of them, it was the area of birthing your dreams I guess. I went into one boutique and they were going out of business, beautiful hats, hair jewelry etc. I picked up one little hair ornament and it was $84 and I thought no wonder they have to go out of business, good grief.....It was raining that day, all day and I thought I guess I better head in.
Day 2. The highlights of the day was going to my office on Times Square-Broadway, in route had pictures with Elmo and Cookie Monster, Minnie and Micky Mouse, then meeting a young lady that wanted to help the charity plan events we had lunch at this great Italian restaurant she prayed for both of us before eating and talked and talked our meeting lasted for close to 4 hours. Then we walked through the garment district and then ended our meeting. Time will tell if this is the right situation for us at this time. I then went to tour "The Empire State Building" eatery for dessert and then the tour of the building, guys and girls this was such an experience, you have got to do it once. I love to learn, this was so fascinating for true.....I took alot of pictures and it looks as if someone has already deleted them all off my FB account....
Day 3. I met with a friend there (I met her in Jan.) who has been such an inspiration to me, she lives in NJ (I will visit there in April) but she wants to be our Publicist/Fundraiser, on the eastcoast. She has some great ideas....We ate at her favorite eatery. She was just sitting at the table talking really loud being used by God, God this and God do this, she has such a heart for our cause because she is a survivor. After meeting with her she told me about a thrift store she goes to sometimes and begged me to go see it, it was a salvation army that alot of stars donate to, I found a pair of mink earmuffs for .99 cents I just could not believe it, "Who does that" give away minkkkkkk????? After that I passed through restaurant row, over 100 in a row.... I then checked into my other hotel "Waldorf Astoria" who is part of The Hilton Honors Club, I am a member and normally stay when I travel at a Hilton (my room was not even $100 dollars) I know favor. I prepared a dinner party for an event for 3 folks who hold interest in the charity. But just ended up hosting for the Chair since, I had already had indepth meetings with the other two.
Day 4. I went to the hotel gym, was pampered a bit, went to Starbucks, then walked to Broadway and everyday at 3 pm you can get tickets 50% it was me and 5000+ other folks. It ended up not being a great deal to me. But next time.....I met with my Board Chair "Amy" for a dinner meeting at Cellini's, that was the restaurant the concierge told us to try, yes he was sending everyone there from the hotel. (After dinner) we went to the gift shop of the Waldorf Astoria, then back to the lobby they have lobbies everywhere we talked, laughed, planned some more, cried... my time in DC and NYC was such a blessing.... Thank You God!
March 23-26 I will be in Nashville hanging April's Art Show at TAL (April is Child Abuse Awareness Month) I hung a painting created by a child abuse victim at TAL, I and the charity will be hanging 8-12 paintings a month also at TAL. We were approached by a Curater who wants to get the paintings and products we have designed in galleries everywhere.
March 28-April 08 I got into Orlando, Celebration and Kissimmee Florida on the 28th. I was in FL. mainly for a convention, WOW was it powerful. I also spoke to a couple of hotels about placing art and products. And the biggest thing was working on a proposal to pitch one of my new children's books and two children's songs I have written to Disney World and Universal Studios. On my last night in FL. I stayed at a palace inside Walt Disney World, and walked through Downtown Disney for almost nothing. It was a great business trip. Although I could do without the lizards...omg they are everywhere.
